RDD-1580 - Further Details
Rotel is proud to announce the RDD-1580, its first ever dedicated Digital-to-Analogue Converter (DAC). It combines stunning audiophile quality with any-digital-source versatility, perfect for upgrading a system to make the very most of new and future digital music.
The RDD-1580 uses two high-end Wolfson WM8740 stereo processors, rather than a single processor like most rivals. Listening tests have shown this significantly reduces distortion and noise. Other premium components include custom toroidal transformers and advanced slit-foil capacitors to guarantee precise and stable voltages, at high current, to the critical circuit stages.
Inputs are highly flexible. The front panel USB socket supports smartphones and tablets including Apple iPod®, iPhone® and iPad®, plus wireless Bluetooth streaming (dongle supplied). While the rear panel PC-USB input supports files from laptops, desktop PCs and Macs up to ultra-detailed 24 bit/192kHz in asynchronous mode. Plus there are TOSlink optical and RCA coaxial inputs optimised for LCPM for Blu-ray players, set-top boxes etc. However you listen to digital music, the Rotel RDD-1580 DAC handles them all.
Outputs are equally versatile, offering both single-ended (RCA) and balanced (XLR). Plus the front USB socket can be used to charge devices, minimising clutter; its high-current (2.1A) USB output is suitable for tablets including iPad as well as smartphones.
Holistically, the RDD-1580 was designed to deliver the most accurate reproduction from all digital sources, without introducing noise, using Rotel's famous Balanced Design Concept*. This balances carefully chosen components, optimised signal paths, and critical evaluation to assess and fine tune performance throughout the design process.
